Organization and Representation

Organization and Representation

Organization and Representation
  • Our Organization & Representation Program (ORP) is dedicated to empowering displaced persons working in the informal economy by strengthening membership-based organizations and cooperative unions. By helping members build strong networks, cultivate effective leadership, and foster democratic structures, ORP enables workers to advocate for decent work, secure livelihoods, and achieve financial independence.
  • Comprehensive Support: WIHD provides ongoing guidance to member organizations, ensuring they have the tools and resources to develop strong membership, effective leadership, and inclusive governance. This holistic support equips displaced informal workers to negotiate for better working conditions and sustainable livelihoods.
  • Financial Self-Sufficiency: A key focus of ORP is increasing the financial self-sufficiency of member organizations. By supporting the development of sustainable financial models and revenue streams, we help organizations thrive independently, reducing dependency on external funding.
  • Participatory Approach: Members play an active role in decision-making and organizational development. This participatory approach ensures programs are tailored to their specific needs, fostering ownership, accountability, and long-term commitment to their organizations.
  • Collaborative Partnerships: WIHD works closely with displaced persons’ organizations, policymakers, researchers, and development practitioners. By leveraging diverse expertise and resources, we address the complex challenges faced by informal workers in a collaborative and coordinated way.
  • Impact-Oriented Strategies: The program employs evidence-based practices and rigorous monitoring and evaluation to maximize its impact. ORP continuously assesses its strategies to ensure meaningful outcomes and sustainable improvements in the livelihoods of displaced informal workers.
  • Through its focus on comprehensive support, financial independence, participatory governance, collaborative partnerships, and impact-driven strategies, ORP positions WIHD as a leader in empowering displaced informal workers and fostering sustainable change in the informal economy.
